2026 CVCS Softball Season Preview

10:57 PM - Feb 6th 2026
link

Our CVCS Softball team enters the season with steady momentum and optimism as head coach Cesar Contreras prepares the program for another competitive year. Offseason preparation has included consistent field and cage work, with a strong group of athletes regularly attending practices and building confidence heading into league play.

Leading the Eagles this season will be McKenzie Meserve, who steps into the role of the team’s primary pitcher, along with senior captain Brielle LoPresti, one of the program’s key leaders. Coach Contreras is also looking forward to seeing returning players continue to develop and contribute throughout the season.

The Eagles also welcome promising newcomers Liliana Martin, Helena Montoya, and Kelly Whitson, who are expected to add depth and energy to the roster as the team continues to grow.

Coach Contreras emphasized that improvement remains the program’s main focus. The Eagles aim to build steadily throughout the season and make a strong push in league play with hopes of qualifying for the CIF playoffs. The team’s strengths are expected to come from its hitting and defensive play, and one of the season’s most anticipated matchups will be against defending league champion Western Christian.

Senior captain Brielle LoPresti is embracing her final season with gratitude and excitement. “I’m looking forward to finishing my softball journey in a fun, Christ-centered environment and leading the team this year,” she said. “This group of girls works hard, encourages each other, and truly enjoys playing together. My goal is to have a great senior season, grow in confidence, and play for the Lord while having fun with my teammates.”

Meserve is also excited to step into a bigger role this season. “I’m looking forward to bringing energy to the team and encouraging everyone to love the game,” she shared. “As a new pitcher, my goal is to throw strikes, trust my defense, and help keep the team unified so everyone enjoys the season.”

Coach Contreras also encouraged the CVCS community to continue supporting the program throughout the year, noting how much encouragement from the stands means to the athletes while also asking for prayers for a healthy, injury-free season.

With developing talent, strong leadership, and a positive team culture, the Eagles are ready to take the field for another season of Softball!

2026 CVCS Baseball Season Preview

10:47 PM - Feb 6th 2026

The CVCS Baseball team enters the season ready to compete after months of preparation that began back in late August. Under Head Coach Clemente Bonilla, now entering his 20th season leading the program, the Eagles have put in steady work throughout their offseason. Coach Bonilla describes this year’s group as a scrappy and gritty bunch, eager to build on the program’s winning tradition.

The Eagles return a strong core of experienced players. Seniors Dom French and Drake Bothwell look to repeat their big offensive production from last season, while junior Barron Butler aims to build on an impressive senior campaign. In the field, Diego Magee will patrol centerfield with his athletic range, while senior Brett Slymen, committed to Georgia Tech, will lead the on the mound as the team’s ace pitcher. Senior Drew Martin, committed to Lewis and Clark, will provide versatility behind the plate and at first base, while Hunter Thalken and Jack Basso are expected to bring added power to the lineup.

Team captain Dom French is excited about what lies ahead. “All of the boys have been working really hard and pushing each other to be the best every day,” French said. “It’s going to be a fun senior season, and we’re going to give it all we’ve got to make a run in the CIF playoffs.”

The team’s goals extend beyond wins and losses, with an emphasis on growing as men and teammates while serving one another and the community. On the field, the Eagles aim to capture their 16th consecutive league championship while making another deep run in the CIF playoffs. Coach Bonilla believes the team’s offensive strength, energy, and instincts will define this year’s squad.

Senior pitcher Brett Slymen is ready to take on the challenge. “We’ve played hard since last summer, and I’m excited to compete for our school,” he said. “It should be a fun senior year.”

The Eagles face a demanding schedule that includes tournament appearances at Loara and the Anaheim Lions Tournament, along with matchups against strong programs such as San Clemente, Trabuco Hills, Edison, and Mission Viejo.

Outfielder Diego Magee summed up the team’s mindset heading into the season: “I’m ready to compete with my boys beside me one more time and give my all for them while helping us reach our ultimate goal, a CIF run.”

With experienced leadership, offensive firepower, and a continued commitment to excellence, the Eagles are prepared for another exciting season on the diamond.

2026 CVCS Boys Volleyball Season Preview

10:02 PM - Feb 5th 2026
link

The CVCS Boys Volleyball team begins the season with a focus on growth, leadership, and playing with purpose. Head coach Ryan Van Rensselaer has used the offseason to build both physical strength and spiritual connection. The athletes have been lifting a few days each week while spending time in devotionals together.

Several players also competed in beach volleyball during the fall, giving the team valuable reps and a strong foundation heading into the indoor season. With a roster of 13 athletes, including 6 players new to organized volleyball, patience and development will be key themes throughout the year.

The Eagles return a group of leaders in Bradin Mackin, Nathan Ledrew, Troy Meserve, and Jacob Gustufson, who will help guide the team on and off the court. The program also welcomes freshman Joel Williams, who is expected to step into the setter position and bring athleticism and energy to the offense.

For Coach Van Rensselaer, the season’s purpose is clear. The team aims to compete freely, grow in faith, and serve one another through the game of volleyball. They will be trusting the process as the season unfolds.

Senior leader Troy Meserve is excited about the opportunity ahead. “I’m looking forward to competing and stepping up to lead the team,” Meserve said. “We’ve been preparing through open gyms, lifting, and continuing relationships we built during beach season. This group has a lot of heart and determination, and I want to give my all this season with no regrets.”

One match the Eagles are especially looking forward to is their rivalry contest against Pacifica Christian, a game that has grown into a competitive rivalry.

With strong leadership and a focus on growth, the Eagles are ready for the season.

2026 CVCS Golf Season Preview

6:58 PM - Feb 5th 2026
link

Our CVCS Golf Team enters the season with excitement for both competition and growth. Offseason preparation has gone well as players have been sharpening their swings and building confidence heading into league play. Their training consists of golf simulator training with Coach Armstrong.

The Eagles return a strong core of experienced golfers, including Trevor Rodriguez, Izzy Exon, and Caleb Cleary, who have all been consistent contributors in the team’s top scoring group. With five returning varsity golfers, experience will be one of the team’s defining strengths this season. The team welcomes Levi Albertyn, who could make an impact as the season progresses and add depth to the lineup.

One unique aspect of this year’s team is its youth. With no seniors in the starting lineup, the program is positioned for long-term growth. “What makes this year’s team special is that we have no seniors in our starting group, so we have time to grow and get better together,” Caleb Cleary said.

Trevor Rodriguez is excited to see that development continue. “Most of us are in our second year on the team, and I’m looking forward to seeing how much we’ve progressed while working toward goals we didn’t reach last season,” he said.

The team’s goals reflect both competitive focus and appreciation for the sport. The Eagles hope to finish .500 or better in league play and qualify at least one golfer for CIF regionals, while also enjoying the experience of playing together as a team.

Their schedule includes two memorable travel matches, one to Catalina Island to face Avalon High School and another to Palm Springs, against Rancho Mirage High School. “I’m really looking forward to playing in Catalina,” Izzy Exon said. “It’s going to be a fun experience.”

With experience returning and a strong team chemistry forming, the Eagles are ready to tee off the season!
